DIRECTORS.

Russell Towne

Russell is the proud father of Hope and Ella and a whole Gaggle of Giggle Gaggle kids on Sunday afternoons. He has been performing improv for over 45 years and has a regular show for grown ups on Friday nights. Actor, director, and teacher all over LAUSD and now the world on the www!

Matthew Godfrey

If you’re Canadian, you’ll recognize Matthew from the cult classic TV show “TV show You Can’t Do That On Television.” He’s since moved to LA, been directing and acting in many film and TV projects and is the proud father of Jade who is a member of Sunday Funnies. Studying at the National Theatre School of Canada and the Moscow Art Theatre, his focus expanded into dance, improvisation, mask work, street performing, television and film. Somewhere along the way he discovered Red Nose Clown as a performer and as a teacher. Since 1997 Matthew has traveled the world with the International Schools Theatre Association teaching, amongst other workshops, clown, ensemble devising, improv and Shakespeare.

Doug Kayne

Doug can often be found in High School still. That's because he's this super strict scary teacher by day at Van Nuys High School; however, on the weekends he performs a weekly comedy show and then directs High School Class Clowns where the kids have to be more strict and scary than he is! Bringing his acting, directing, and Writers Guild skills to the teen group, the teens are catapulted into a level of learning improv and sketch. Don't worry though, they can still perform the dorky silly stuff too, but it will surprise you!

Kaore Bonell

Kaore is awesome. He is the founding director for The Sunday Funnies, done countless shows throughout Los Angeles and is famed for his crying chicken commercial that still makes us pee our pants a little. Check out his weekly comedy podcast "Suck the JOY", which has nothing to do with JOY Theatre joy, just his own personal joy, which is well, quite personal but fun to eavesdrop on.
