Comedy Camp Schedule O’ Fun:

At 8:30 we start with an Actors Boot camp and warm ups Intro to the stage and each other fun. The rest of the day includes  Mind Melding Madness, Clown Characters of Chaos, Shakespearian Yawping, snacks, lunch and a final showcase of the day’s goings on in an Improvised Shakespearian Clowning Extravaganza!

We are learning inside a working theatre!

Wear closed toed shoes, clothes to move in, and bring a water bottle.

Real Reel is the dynamic combo of two Texas gals with Hollywood success who are coming home to tell y’all how the Biz really is...And have a good time doing it! We’re gonna show you the real deal. We're not one of those big name phony showcases. We’ll give attendees and their parents insider tools to help y'all build the right skills and develop confidence they'll use in and out of the industry. Your child will make themselves the star they choose to be!

This is an Intensive Course that demands a great attitude, hard work, and a lot of fun and laughter. Taught by LA Pros with Texas Hearts. We mean business and are here to help.

On Camera Classes:

Covering Entering a Room, Slating, Reading Technique, Scene Study, Commercials, TV, Film, Disney/Nickelodeon, using Improv, Soap Operas skills and getting callbacks

Theatre:

Voice Projection, Diction, Stage Presence, Monologues, Finding your Light

Improvisation:

Must have class for working on-camera…Self Confidence through Comedy Games, Laughing at Yourself, Finding your Characters

Modeling:

ZED cards of the future, Look Books, Photographers, Stylists, Go-Sees, Web Video/Commercial/Editorial/Print/Fashion/Runway, How to Walk, When to Talk, Smile Technique, Emotions coaching, Digitals, How to Pose and Deal with Photographers and Stylists

Parent/Actor Education:

Child Labor Laws, Work Permits, Coogan Accounts, What to Wear, Resumes, Self-Taping, Prepping for Headshots, Difference between Commercial and Theatrical, Demo Reels, Actor Websites, Getting your Agent (Why you need a Manager), Finding Monologues, Attitude

Showcase:

At the end of each day, your child will either perform for you a monologue, an improv game, or a scene and EVERYONE will walk the runway

Classes are taught by Janiece Jary, former Talent Manager and Agency Owner, CEO of LA based JOY Theatre (winner of Sundance Film Festival 2017 Teachers Making a Difference, Nickelodeon’s Parent’s Pick, featured on CNN, KNBC, LA Parent + more), parent of a working child actor as well as successful private coach for countless professional kids in the Biz. Cactus has owned her own modeling agency, was director of FORD models kids/TEEN division, was Executive Director of LA Models Youth Division and previously had 14 years as a successful freelance producer and stylist in the commercial photography industry and on film and TV projects. Former booker and developer for the artist division of Campbell Agency is now represented as an Artist herself as a stylist, producer and art director. The difference here is they truly have a heart for kids dreams and strive for excellence but with lots of love and honesty. Both ladies are Texans, Janiece, member of the Screen Actors Guild since 1995, with a BS in film production from TCU and Cactus, the standup comedian, who created the celebrity drive charity HappySnapps.com, and has her BA from SMU.

We come to your acting camp and can either do a show and teach improv, or we can just teach improv and let them do their own show! We have been doing workshops for agents, managers, and Performing Arts camps for years. 

We’ve been blessed to teach Young Performer Workshops at AFI and SAG Conservatory. It can either be an intensive or we can get 100 kids going! 

We’ll cater to your needs. 

From Camp Ronald McDonald, to YMCA, to Rec centers and private summer camps, we will cater to your age group and budget. 

Give the counselors a break and let us get their goodies out. We can bring in a cast to do a show or just directors and let the kids do their own show!
